The kids are both now in school full time. I don't like Sophia's teacher very much. Thaddeus had stay-in on the first day of kindergarten. I miss our pre-K Fridays off.
Stay-In is the new nice word for detention. To hear him tell it, the teacher "cut him off." I couldn't figure out if that meant she cut him in lunch line or if he was in the middle of one of his stories or retelling of his favorite scene from the latest favorite movie. Later, we found out it meant he was making faces at some of the teachers. Who knew you could actually get in trouble for looking at someone funny.
He's struggling with his writing. Greg bought him some larger pencils, some ergonomic pencil grips to make sure his is holding the pencil correctly. I even make coloring sheets with his name outlined. There are only five fonts that use the "a" we teach our kids to write. As long as he's holding some sort of writing/coloring utensil, I think his writing will improve.
He started telling me about another kindergartener's flicking him. I told him to tell the teacher. What I didn't know was that this was happening on the bus until he got in trouble with the bus driver. After three or four days of this, Thaddeus finally punched the kid in the eye. What could I say? He told the bus driver it was an accident. The bus driver said there'd be no more of these "accidents." He'll tell the driver but I bet that kid doesn't flick my son anymore.
